Why Moon Base Curio?

I sometimes get asked about the name of this site. The title is more an attempt to articulate a  human proclivity than it is to imply a direct meaning . For many years I’ve been an aficionado of space art painter, Chesley Bonestell, whose work throughout the 1940′s, 50′s, and 60′s served as a major influence on science fiction illustration and as an inspiration for the American space program. For me, Bonestell’s paintings capture an essence of exploration, discovery, and foray into the untraversed corridors of the universe. Moon Base Curio in some tiny way, I hope, serves humankind’s innate curiosity and gravitation towards beauty and knowledge.
